As part of the European project DIGITAL STORIES, the immersive Piloting Training event took place from 27 May to 6 July 2024 at Instituto Comprehensive "Maria Montessori"—Terracina, Italy. EU-Track, the project partner, organized it.
The goal was to test an innovative program for teachers and with teachers, supporting them in designing activities that engage students through the powerful medium of digital storytelling following the constructivist learning model of the 5Es (ENGAGE, EXPLORE, EXPLAIN, ELABORATE, EVALUATE.
The piloting training, conducted in Italy, significantly improved participants' perceptions. Initially focused on the potential benefits and broad applications of innovative teaching materials, participants expressed concerns about student disengagement exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for new educational strategies.
After the training, they highlighted concrete improvements such as the ease of use of digital tools, their versatility, and the positive impact on student engagement. Post-training opinions also showed a notable increase in recognition of the high benefits of digital storytelling in enhancing analytical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
In summary, the training positively shifted perceptions, improving confidence in digital storytelling and equipping participants to use it more effectively and critically in classroom social dynamics.
